This is a very strong, sturdy mount. I would easily recommend it. It was easy to assemble.

"Excellent Mount, Criticisms in Other Reviews Same for Most Mounts" 2010-05-30
By Z. Menendez (Dallas, TX USA)
This mount is of excellent build quality and is currently supporting a 43" Pioneer Elite 930HD with no issues. I was very pleased and will likely be purchasing another to use in another room in our house. It was perfect for the project I had, which was not to mount it to a wall, but to allow me to float a TV over an existing built-in TV niche (cutout shelf in the wall for older tube TVs.) Briefly, that project involved building a "frame" of 2x10s inside the niche and then installing this mount on one of the 2x10s, allowing the TV to float just in front of the niche. I am very pleased with the results and after having it installed for a month have had no sagging, noises, or difficulties whatsoever.

I would like to state that while all of the negative comments about the included hardware (e.g. bolts, lag bolts, etc.) are warranted, the comment is overblown. I have installed several TV wall mounts, all of different brands. Some of the ones I have installed are even the "high-end" brands, whose mounts are easily 3-5x the cost of unrecognized names and can confidently say that all of them ship junk hardware, so it is not unique to this mount. The same cheap lag bolts that come in this package can be found in mounts that cost several hundred dollars. So my recommendation is not to be disuaded by the fact that the lag bolts aren't good as a reason not to purchase this mount; the rest of it is made of very strong, thick steel. For all the time, money, and effort you are putting into a wall mounting project, I would recommend going to the hardware store and spending the few dollars (shouldn't cost you more than $5 at most) and getting replacement hardware no matter what brand of mount you buy.

Some additional notes to highlight:

* I was pleasantly surprised that the mount folds up nearly flat against the wall (only a couple inches from the back of the TV to the wall-mounted plate) since the arms fold in on themselves. This is great if you want to be able to keep it flat and centered against the wall when you're not watching it.

* A comment I've seen a few times here is that this mount will basically only support a stud distance of 18" because the back plate is small. While this is accurate, this is something true of many articulating mounts (especially double-arm mounts like this), as the idea is to keep the back plate small so that it is not "sticking out" as you move the TV away from the wall.

* Due to my installation, the arms are never folded flat and are always in a partially extended position, and this has given me no problems at all.

 "Good Product" 2010-05-23

The hercules wall mount was exactly as described. Make sure that you have the correct stud width behind your walls. You may also want to make sure that those studs are centered on your wall or the area where you plan to mount your tv because their is very little room to move the mount left or right due to the width of the mounting surface.

But for the price...this is a very good product.

 "Studs Not necessarily required" 2010-05-13
By M. G. Samuelsen (Syracuse, NY)
I bought this mount after spending a week reading review after review and finding no difference between this and the $300 priced models out there. I installed this beast of a mount on the wall over my fireplace to hold my 55 inch, 97lb LG LCD HDTV. It is everything I wanted in a mount. Meets VESA standard and has extender parts to adapt to a curved tv back. It comes with multiple screws and bolts to fit the many TV's out there. It's more than half the weight of my TV and you really need another person to hold it in place to get everything lined up.

My issue was the fact that everything I read about it said it required studs to mount. Thankfully in my case, this was not necessarily true. The wall it is on has only 2 studs as it's just fascia covering the face of the Chimney but it's from the 1950's so is thicker than the standard Drywall from today. Still I have 40 inches of unsecured space and expanding plastic drywall hangers were not going to cut the mustard. I used " Bb 1/4-20 Snaptoggle Toggle Bolt" through the Drywall to secure the mount to the wall. Amazon sells these but 20 is the smallest amount you can get.Toggler 25014 Bb 1/4-20 50/pack Snaptoggle Toggle Bolt I got a 10 pack at Lowes. The back plate has nine holes across the top and bottom 4 on each side and one in the center. After using 9 bolts total (one was broken in the package) 5 spaced across the top and 4 across the bottom I have little doubt that this will fail. Now in mounting these I had to drill 1/2 inch holes into the sheetrock but the nice thing about this product is that the screws can be removed and the channel remains securing the "wing" in the wall so it doesn't fall and you can then rescrew the bolt into place. The bolts are rated to hold 265lbs in 1/2 drywall and are recomended for mounting flat panel TV's.

Movement wise, this mount has a stiff feel to it and needs some effort to move which, I favor as I don't want to brush against it and move it out of position. Every bit of it is solidly constructed and is a very durable grade of steel. My TV now rests up in the air with no sagging and I don't feel as if I've been ripped off. What a great purchase. I'm buying it again to mount my next tv in the basement.

"First Mount purchase and very pleased" 2010-05-11
By Alexander H. Bonte (Berkeley, CA)
I installed this mount to my wall yesterday and am more impressed than I expected to be with it. I had considered getting another mount made by VideoSecu that only had one articulating arm, but became a bit apprehensive about resting my 44-lb 37" Vizio LCD on it. So I came across this one (with two arms), and decided to give it a shot. I could not have been happier with my purchase. Setup was easy and fast (except for the mistakes made by me and the drill bit I used to drill the original pilot holes) and the entire system is as sturdy as can be. The fact that the arms move independently provide a very wide range of motion, and I am completely satisfied that this mount will have no trouble holding my television aloft for a very long time.

Let me know if you have any questions!
