Excellent mount. Works as advertised and is very helpful positioning the TV around the fireplace.

"Faulty Parts and Dodgy Company Policies! BUYER BEWARE!" 2010-03-09
By Brian S. Payne (Portland, OR United States)
I purchased the VMAA26 wall mount from Amazon to mount my 42" LCD TV to my living room wall. The product arrived promptly and all parts were accounted for. Following the installation instructions to the letter, we carefully measured the mount and the TV for the perfect location and began installing the backplate to our living room wall. The backplate attaches to the wall with four 2 1/2" lag bolts. As instructed, we marked and drilled the guide holes and started threading the bolts. With each of the four started in their guide holes, we began to tighten the first bolt with a hand wrench as described in the installation instructions. This is where our experience took a severe nose dive. Halfway through tightening the first bolt, it broke off in our wall, and there is no way to remove it. We got a defective bolt. Truly disappointed, we realized there was no way we would be able to mount our TV where we wanted it now.

So we called Sanus's tech support line and spoke with a gentleman named Paul who stated the best he could do for us as tech support was to send us four new bolts and that I should call back between 9am and 4:30pm to speak with Rebecca in the claims department for further assistance. So I called and left a message for Rebecca and she later returned my call.

I explained to Rebecca that I appreciated the replacement bolts, but that the problem went way beyond replacing the defective bolt. At this point there are four 2 1/2" holes in the drywall and studs of our living room wall, one of which still has part of a defective bolt stuck in it. Because of the defective part we received from Sanus, we would now have to repair the existing holes and start all over again somewhere else on our wall to get any benefit from Sanus's product. In addition, my confidence in Sanus's product is now in question. I mean, if one of the four bolts that anchor the mount to the wall is going to break while tightening it with a hand wrench, how can I trust that it will hold a large TV for several years without further issue?

So I asked Rebecca if Sanus would be willing to reimburse me for the product or send out an installer who would be willing to guarantee their work. In between the bolt breaking off in the wall and my conversation with Rebecca, I called around to a few different installers and received estimates in the range of the original cost of the mount itself, about $250-$300. Rebecca told me that Sanus would not be able to satisfy either of my requests. OK, I can understand that. It doesn't make me feel as if Sanus is standing behind their product, but if this is Sanus's policy, there's not much I can do about it I guess.

Regrouping, I figured I would at least be able to return the product, but shipping on something like this is going to be expensive and I'd prefer not to have to spend more money to ship the product back to Amazon. Considering I already have to pay for drywall repair due to a defective product that is giving me zero to negative benefit, I think shipping reimbursement is the least that Sanus could do. So I asked if Sanus would be willing to reimburse me for the shipping cost of returning the mount to Amazon and again Rebecca told me that Sanus would not be able to help me. Rebecca told me that the best Sanus could do was to ship the new set of lag bolts to me. I thanked her for her time and hung up the phone, extremely dissatisfied with Sanus and its products.

So here I sit, writing this review, stuck with a defective product, unconvinced that it will ever deliver on its promise, concerned about Sanus's customer relations policies, and my only options are to double the investment in the mount for professional installation (and cross my fingers nothing else happens) or spend whatever it will take to ship the product back to Amazon in hopes of obtaining a full refund. Oh, and I still need to fix the holes in my living room wall where I wanted the mount to be.

In the end, I won't tell you not to buy Sanus's products. What I will tell you, my fellow consumer, is BUYER BEWARE of Sanus and its products! If you are willing to incur double the cost of the mount for professional installation with a warranty, you might be ok. Then again, you might not. If you opt to install the mount yourself, I would urge you to consider other options for your TV. Take heed of my experience with Sanus's poor customer service and defective parts and ask yourself if it's really worth it to take a chance on finding yourself in my current situation.

"Sanus VMAA26 HDTV wall mount" 2010-01-09
By rrobelen (San Diego, CA)
I used the product to mount a new Panasonic TC-P54G10 54" HDTV. I found the instructions to be excellent and the variability of the mount to accommodate different mounting situations to also be excellent. I had to mount the TV off center to the position of the old TV. The VMAA26B handled this situation flawlessly. I highly recommend this product.

 "mounted!" 2009-12-15
By S. Mitchell
I was a little hesitant on purchasing this mount due to a few bad reviews. However I was very surprised to find this mount extremely easy to mount. The kit came with all the screws and bolts needed for various types of hd tv's( and plenty extra). This was great because it was easy to find a match to my Panasonic 50". The bracket mounted with no issues to the tv. The one recommendation I do have is you will DEFINITELY need another person to help you lift the bracket/tv to the wall mount. I can't imagine anyone doing this part solo. Great product. I watch the tv from my kitchen when it's rotated to the right. Living room when straight and pation when swilved to the left. How awesome is that!

 "hardware should be upgraded" 2009-11-26
By Gene (hartford,ct.)
I have been very pleased with this mount for my 40 inch HDTV except for one glaring exception. The lag bolts must have been made in some third world country because the heads split off the bolts on several tries. I pre-drilled larger pilot holes twice and the heads of the bolts continued to sever off as I made the last couple of turns into the wall studs. Users need to go to home depot or wherever and purchase better hardware before attempting to mount this unit - then you'll be fine.
